Aporia Labs

The pressures of production can leave young artists with little time to explore new techniques outside of the comfort zone of academia. Aporia Labs are a series of peer-taught workshops hosted by the company. These workshops are not classes—there are no teachers or students—but rather actors, directors, and writers working together to experiment with both established methodologies and new ideas. Aporia Labs offer an opportunity for new artists to engage with the company and for company members to expand their shared language.

The first Aporia Lab took place in March 2010 at The Flea Theater. The workshop focused on the Viewpoints and Action Theater methods and was led by Artistic Director Sarah Wanlsey and Associated Artist Morgan Harris.

The second Aporia Lab took place in April 2011 at The Flea Theater. The workshop focused on audition techniques and the business of acting and was led by Resident Director Nikki Rothenberg.
