Will Work For Art

Will Work For Art is an ongoing reading series that developed out of a partnership with the Cherry Lane Theatre. Our playwrights, actors, and directors roll up our sleeves, put on our dust masks, and trade a day of our labor for a day of performances so that you can hear new works from members of our company.

Our latest Will Work for Art project featured two readings of new plays written by members of Aporia performed at the Cherry Lane Studio:

8 pm: A Lost Piece by Jason Resnikoff
From the ashes of a ruined library in Post-WWII Germany, an American scholar rediscovers the work of an ancient Venetian composer, Tomaso Albinoni. An intimate drama about the urge to create in the midst of chaos and the music that endures.

9:30 pm: Rick Hardon, Private Dick by Jake Green

A sexploitation comedy that follows the absurd exploits of Detective Rick Hardon, a cocksure, chauvinistic private eye, who wakes up in a hospital to find himself the victim of a mysterious crime that has altered his very identity. As he searches for the culprit, Rick struggles with these changes and the reactions of his friends and loved ones, which leads him to a shocking discovery: to be a man again, he’ll have to take it… like a woman.
